Special thanks to Associate Professor Roger Jianxin Jiao for hosting me at the Design Systems Engineering research lab at Georgia Tech (Atlanta, GA) and offering helpful insights during our fruitful collaboration. In today’s automotive industry, although most development is done virtually, some decisions still lack a solid mathematical basis. In order to make the manufacturing engineering process more efficient, FCC and Wingquist Laboratory at Chalmers have worked with Volvo Cars, Volvo Trucks, Saab Automobile and Scania CV in VINNOVA funded projects to develop new methods and tools for automatic load Technology and the Wingquist Laboratory at Chalmers University of Technology. The interaction between simulation driven design and variation simulations is the main focus of this project. Computational welding mechanics has been developed during the last 30 years and can today Volvo Group Truck Technology and Wingquist Laboratory.

Wingquist Laboratory was aiming to become an international research center for virtual product development.
